JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE ROUND UP - WEEK TWO
14/02/2013 12:00:00 PM

The Junior Representative season kicked off last weekend and there were plenty of great games including some surprise results.

The Western Sydney Academy of Sport were perhaps the biggest surprise packet of Round One, defeating the Canberra Raiders in the Harold Matthews and almost causing a boil-over in the SG Ball.

Another pleasing result was the performance of the Melbourne Storm SG Ball outfit at Belmore. The young and relatively inexperienced group traveled up to a packed Belmore Sports Ground and came within a whisker of pulling off a stunning upset, eventually going down 28-24.

Our attention now turns to this weekend's action, and much like last week when former team mates Mat Head and Ben Hornby faced off against one another, the clash between Illawarra and the Roosters SG Ball Cup sides this week sees Dean Young and Mark Riddell eyeing off one another on the sidelines.

Neither the Steelers or the Roosters were able to get the points last weekend, so a win here will be vital as an 0-2 start to the season will make things very tough RE: qualifying for the Finals.

In Harold Matthews Cup action, the Panthers have started the season well, and their clash with the Tigers looms as one of the matches of the round out at Centrebet Stadium. Canberra and Cronulla will square off after both went down in relatively close encounters in Round One, so their match in the nation's capital also looks to be a key one for both clubs.
