Two of Australia’s most successful sports coaches have given the NSW Origin squad an insight into backing up from success at the VB Blues’ day-long Origin camp in Sydney.

Swans coach John Longmire and Waratahs and Wallabies mentor Michael Cheika spoke to Laurie Daley’s Blues squad about their successes and what it takes to continue cultural change in sports teams.

VB Blues assistant coach Matt Parish said both presentations, as part of the Origin-specific preparations, were hugely beneficial to the side’s goal of improving further in 2015.

“[Longmire and Cheika] have won premierships and they’ve had to back it up the following year. They’re coming from a different sport, they have a different mentality to a lot of things and we can learn plenty from them,” Parish said.

“We can learn plenty, particularly from the Swans – they’ve had a very successful culture for a long time and while you can’t copy anything in sport we want to build our own culture.”
