It was a family affair for the Mata’utia's on Sunday afternoon at Hunter Stadium with the three brothers playing in the NSW Cup match against the Wentworthville Magpies.

The eldest of the trio Chanel played on the wing with Sione and Pat featuring in the centres.

“It was a good experience for the three of us,” Pat said.

“It’s never happened before. I’ve played with Sione and Chanel but not the three together.

“It was a good hit out there today and we got the win.”

The brotherly partnership paid dividends when Chanel palmed off his marker to make 60 metres down the right side to score at the back end of the first half.

“I wanted to cross the line before him but I had no choice, I had to give it to him,” Pat said with a grin.

“He got over and got a try for us.”

The NSW Cup Knights notched a satisfying win over a Wentworthville Magpies’ line-up that boasted it’s fair share of NRL experience.

“It was tough and they had good first grade players there as well, so they are a pretty experienced team,” Pat said.

“But we were pretty much the same and we ended up coming up with a win.

“I think it was the talk at half time, just (coach) Matty (Lantry) giving us a few words at halftime and we took that onto the field and we got away with the win.”

While Pat regularly plays alongside Chanel, he was pleased to play with youngest brother Sione as well.

“Sione went well, he has a lot of experience playing first grade and he brought that down to Cup,” Pat said.

The game was a proud occasion for the family with the brothers even watched on by eldest brother Peter, who played with Newcastle before joining the St George Illawarra Dragons.
