Blues Coach Laurie Daley (see image attached) and the NSW Rugby League have encouraged the community to wear their favourite sporting jersey tomorrow (Friday, 4 September) in support of Jersey Day to raise awareness of the Organ and Tissue Authority and the Donate Life Network.

Jersey Day was inspired by the family of Nathan Gremmo, a Junior League player from the Hills Bulls, in Sydney’s north-west, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in May this year.

Nathan’s family bravely chose to give the gift of life to others and donated his organs to honour his legacy.

His father Michael Gremmo has urged Australians to consider organ donation options and believes Jersey Day is a simple way to raise awareness for the cause by encouraging people to wear their favourite sporting jersey to work or school.

“We appreciate the support and it is great to see how our community rallies together to assist others,” Michael said.

“I’m happy to assist in any way we can to raise awareness and get families and friends to speak with each other about organ donation.

"Our only wish is that families don’t have to make a decision as we did. We can only think that if our situation was reversed we would move heaven and earth to save Nathan, however the reality is that we would be waiting for a generous organ donor family to save Nathan and our lives."

This campaign is all about raising awareness. Simply wear your favourite Rugby League jersey to work on Friday to show your support to this great cause.
