The regular season for the VB NSW Cup has come to an exciting end. It has been an incredible season which proved to be the tightest ever race to the VB NSW Cup Finals.

The Mounties clinched the minor premiership by a mere one point to the Wyong Roos.

The Panthers will be looking to go back-to-back as they enter another finals series. In round 25 they had the highest completion rate; an outstanding 88 per cent which certainly shows their focus.

The teams that will feature in the VB NSW Cup finals are as follows: Mounties (1), Wyong Roos (2), Penrith Panthers (3), New Zealand Warriors (4), Canterbury Bulldogs (5), Manly Sea Eagles (6), Newcastle Knights (7) and North Sydney Bears (8)

Tyrone Phillips from the Bulldogs finished the season with the most tries (23), second was Kurtis Rowe who has had a great season for the Wests Tigers (19).

Three other players in the 2015 season scored four tries, Edward Aiono from the Panthers (Round 12), Bulldog Tyrone Phillips (Round 13) and Warrior Ken Maumalo in Round 19. A hat-trick of hat-tricks happened again when David Williams (Manly) Jarrod McNally (Bulldogs) and Ray Leosa (Panthers) on his debut scored three tries each.

George Ndaira, the experienced Knight, was on-song slotting a perfect four from four with the boot mostly from the sideline. He has an impressive success rate of 88 per cent for the 2015 season.

The top-tacklers for the season were Cody Nelson from the Wentworthville Magpies with 769 tackles, while Mitch Williams from the Roos came in second place with 759 tackles.

The Wyong Roos definitely know how to run; they have topped the leader-board for Round 25 and the 2015 season with most team run metres (Round 25 – 1795m) (2015 – 34319m.)

Dom Reardon was at his blistering best, he was outstanding with his talented footwork. Reardon made 13 tackle-breaks in Round 25 and he topped the run metres for the season with 3163m.

The former Rooster and now Dragon Heath L’Estrange made his return for the Cutters. He certainly impressed by making 45 tackles despite the loss against the Panthers.

Adam Elliott for the Bulldogs has been very consistent all season and has certainly impressed his coach by always taking the ball up strong and hard. In round 25 he made 22 hit-ups and made four offloads. Luke Page from the Mounties topped the board with 266 hit-ups for the season.

It’s finals fever! Make sure you are at the games this weekend to support your team. The more people at the game, the better the atmosphere. See you at the footy!
