The NRL and New South Wales Rugby League seasons have come to an end but there is still plenty of rugby league action around the state with the New South Wales Wheelchair Rugby League (NSWWRL) competition beginning this weekend.

The opening round of the NSWWRL will be held at Menai Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday (November 1) afternoon from 3pm, with plenty on the line as the season commences.

Players will be out to impress in a bid to earn selection for the NSW wheelchair team to take on fierce rivals Queensland in 2016 after the success of the maiden interstate challenge earlier this year.

The reigning champions, Canberra Raiders, have been tipped as the team to beat following their 52-30 victory against Newcastle in this year's decider - Register today!

The NSWWRL season starts a week ahead of the Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (8-15 November), a national campaign to create a more inclusive and accessible community for everyone.

It is an initiative of the Australian Spinal Injury Alliance, which represents eight of the country’s largest spinal cord injury organisations, and is a national voice for all Australians who have sustained a spinal cord injury.

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia is a partner of the NRL Foundation which is providing support for injured rugby league players including Cabramatta’s Kurt Drysdale.
