Making the long trip around the world from Wagga Wagga to Europe, 16-year-old Tyson Hodge reflects on his adventure of a lifetime, representing the Indigenous Young Achievers side touring France and Italy.

Spending time at the Australian Institute of Sport-European Centre was a highlight thus far. I want to make it to the NRL one day. Seeing the facilities that the elite players can train with is something to aim for. I have learnt about recovery after games and training by using the facilities.

Visiting Lake Como and walking around the foreshore and seeing some impressive boats was great. I feel very fortunate to be on this trip with my brother Cody and family. These are moments that we will look back on in years to come with fond memories.

Walking around Rome today and looking at buildings thousands of years old is pretty mind blowing. I can’t wait to go to the Colosseum tomorrow – the movie “Gladiator” is one of my favourites and I can’t wait to stand there and look down on the same arena as all the Caesars have done.
