The countdown to Origin is on – and we're celebrating this special time of year by counting down our favourite NSW Origin memories. With just six days to go, here’s one of our all-time favourite Blues moments.

The moment the NSW Blues believed they had scored the opening try of the 2009 State of Origin series, when Robbie Farah threw a superb pass to Jarryd Hayne who ran around Israel Folau and evaded Billy Slater to score one of the most amazing Origin no-tries.

The try went to the video referee for confirmation and replays showed Hayne’s foot going agonisingly close to the sideline during his run.

The players and viewers believed it was a ‘benefit of the doubt try’ after watching various replays with the Blues preparing to attempt the conversion to make it an 8-0 lead.

However the video referee disallowed the try, which cruelly robbed Hayne of a magical Origin moment.

The Blues did not recover and Queensland went on to score the next three tries, and eventually won the game 28-18.

This moment proves that Rugby League is a game of millimetres and that every single point is extremely valuable when it comes to State of Origin.
