Grass roots clubs, volunteers and officials from across the state have been recognised in the NRL's third "Back to the Juniors" weekend.
The annual community-focused event celebrates the fantastic contribution that volunteers make to Rugby League every weekend.
There was a pleasing response from within the NRL, NSWRL and NRL clubs, who were out in force to lend a helping hand at junior and grass roots Rugby League grounds. More than 120 members of NRL management, staff, the NRL Referees’ squad and coaching staff got involved, as well as a number of NRL clubs. Some of these included:
- The Newcastle Knights and Newcastle Rugby League, with NRL stars visiting local clubs Maitland, Kurri Kurri, Central Newcastle, Wests, Souths, Lakes, Macquarie and Cessnock on the previous Monday.
- The St George Illawarra Dragons, who visited local teams including the Shellharbour Sharks, Arncliffe Scots and the Corrimal Cougars - with more photos at the @NRL_DCommunity Twitter account.
- Interstate clubs, including the Melbourne Storm, Gold Coast Titans and Brisbane Broncos, also got involved.
