The 2016 NSWRL Annual Conference has brought together some of Rugby League's best and up-and-coming administrators, with more than 40 junior league administrators attending the 11-hour event in Sydney Olympic Park.

Following from the NSWRL Volunteer Awards - a night aimed at recognising the NSWRL's hard-working volunteers at WatervieW in Bicentennial Park - the conference brought attendees up to speed with the changes that are happening to NSWRL's policies and procedures at all levels. Presentations from former Australian Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham OAM, Intrust Super CEO Brendan O'Farrell, NRL CEO Todd Greenberg and NSW Office of Sport CEO Matthew Miller were highlights of the event, while NSWRL CEO David Trodden and members of NSWRL staff also provided talks to the audience.

The theme of the conference of welfare and Mitcham in particular provided a valuable insight into the emotional and mental struggles of emerging athletes. Presentations focused on a range of areas that can benefit administrators, including Communication Policy and Issue Management, Welfare and Cultural Differences, Player Transfers, the JRL Licensing Program and important updates to NSWRL Policies and Procedures. A networking dinner was also held to connect participants who hailed from diverse professional backgrounds.

With the NSWRL Annual Conference a success, administrators are now well-equipped to prepare for the 2017 Rugby League season.
