The New South Wales Rugby League, along with the Country Rugby League, has announced Mudgee will host the final Country-City clash on 7 May next year.

NRL Head of Football Brian Canavan said it is a shame the fixture will be scrapped, but hopes clubs will in future take games to the bush to promote the sport.

NSWRL CEO David Trodden encouraged fans to get to the historic event, while CRL CEO Terry Quinn believed Mudgee has the best facilities in the country area and deserves to host the match.
