Former VB Blues Captain Paul Gallen has thrown his support by the 17 men who have starred for NSW in Origins I and II, urging coach Laurie Daley to stick with the same side ahead of the series decider on Wednesday, 12 July.

Predicting the VB Blues to rediscover the form that saw them run out 24-point victors in the series opener, Gallen says the secret to success lays within the side who was narrowly pipped at ANZ Stadium in Game Two.

“It was a missed opportunity for New South Wales, but they’ll go up there with plenty of confidence,” Gallen tells Sky Sports Radio’s, The Big Sports Breakfast.

“I think they can get the win up there, I really do. I thought they could have won anyway [even] if Johnathan Thurston was there.

“Thurston is so important to that team, we saw what happened up there in Game One when he didn’t play. He won’t be there for Game Three, you throw on top of that Darius Boyd (broken thumb) who has been important to that side for a number of years as well.

“NSW has been the better side for the majority of the two games, they just went away from their plan a little bit in the back end of that second-half.”
