The New South Wales Rugby League and Tooheys have teamed up again renewing their long-term partnership from the successful 1990s era as shorts sponsor of the NSW Blues for the next four years.

NSWRL Head of Commercial Jodie Cross today confirmed NSWRL has agreed to new terms with Lion, who first sponsored the Blues across 13 years from 1991 through seven series wins, two draws and four losses.

“Tooheys has a rich history with the Blues and Rugby League in NSW so it makes it a natural fit for them to be back as the official beer of the NSW Blues,” Cross said.

“We are really proud to have renewed our association and our partnership with the number one selling pack beer in NSW underlines the strength of the Blues brand and the NSWRL’s commercial strategy.”

Ben Slocombe, Marketing Director at Lion said: “Tooheys supported the Blues from the start, and we’ve never stopped supporting them really, so it is fantastic to have NSW’s biggest beer back officially with the NSW Blues.”

NSWRL will be announcing a new naming rights partner and a number of further exciting commercial partnerships in November.

Cross also thanked CUB for their commitment to the NSW Blues for more than a decade.
