Six of the seven Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership clubs are represented in the 2017 Team of the Year, with significan talent signifying the strength of the competition.

Reincarnated from the former Sydney Metropolitan Women's Rugby League, the competition has been another indication of the growth of the women's game in NSW, which was highlighted in July by the state's first Harvey Norman Interstate Challenge on home turf. Several sky blue representatives feature in the Team of the Year - as do Kiwi Ferns hopefuls, following news that Australia-based New Zealand players will now be eligible for the national team.

While the Redfern All Blacks take the 2017 minor premiership, Glenmore Park, Mounties, North Newcastle and Greenacre are not far behind leading into the top-five finals series. All Blacks coach Dany Allende is awarded Coach of the Year honours following the historic achievement, with a relatively new roster at Redfern.
