Redfern has qualified for the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership thanks to a commanding 42-0 victory over Glenmore Park, who will have to play North Newcastle next week in the Preliminary Final.

It took a while for the game to break open, with the game being played with an end-to-end style with neither side dominating field position or possession for the first 15 minutes.

The class of Maddie Studdon finally saw the first points of the game when she held the ball up beautifully for Jasmine Allende, who bulldozed her way through various defenders to the try-line in a 30-metre effort.

Redfern made it back-to-back tries after a nice back-line shift shortly afterwards when Studdon passed to Nakia Davis-Welsh, who threw a perfect cut-out pass to Karri Doyle, who used her speed to get around the outside of her defender and score.

Glenmore Park had their first attacking chance of the game at the 30 minute mark, but were successfully shut down thanks to some scrambling defence by Davis-Welsh followed by a brutal try-saver out wide the very next play.

Studdon was in the thick of the action again after a sharp right-foot step saw her find space and make a line-break before being brought down just short of the line, but the back-tracking defence of Glenmore Park could not stop Davis-Welsh charging onto a short ball to extend their lead to 14-0.

Redfern added to their commanding lead and once again Studdon was involved thanks to a pin-point bomb that was brilliantly snatched out of the air by Taleena Simon who planted the ball down.

Two Redfern players then scored their second respective tries of the afternoon when Allende ran a great line and put on a powerful fend for a four-pointer, before Simon crossed shortly afterwards to increase their lead to 32-0.

Davis-Welsh showed her speed to slice through the defence for another try, recording her second for the afternoon to match her two teammates, before she linked up with player-of-the-match Studdon for another four-pointer with just over 10 minutes remaining. Scores would remain until the game's conclusion, with Redfern off to the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership Grand Final.
