After 20 years of service to the Balmain and Wests Tigers Football Clubs, Rugby League trainer Charlie Nelson has decided to retire.

Nelson served as the head trainer for the Balmain Ryde Eastwood squads as well as the Wests Tigers Intrust Super Premiership teams from 2016 and was also a trainer for the Tigers’ Harold Matthews Cup side coached by Gary Freeman.

Known as 'The Pumped Up Postman,' the NSWRL would like to recognise Nelson’s contribution to the game for 20 years of service.

Charlie’s career highlights include helping prepare Paul Fletcher’s Balmain-Ryde Eastwood teams that reached the 2009 and 2012 Intrust Super Premiership NSW Grand Finals and watching a host of local junior products like Aaron Woods, David Gower, Jarrod Farlow, Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses, Curtis Sironen, Kyle Lovett, Moses Suli and Bayley Sironen come through the ranks and play first grade.
