Throughout the opening weekend of the Rugby League World Cup, players from across the globe got the chance to announce themselves on the world stage - and Mitchell Moses took it with both hands.

In their first World Cup appearance since 2000, Lebanon managed their first-ever victory in the tournament, defeating France 29-18 at Canberra Stadium. The Cedars five-eighth was at the heart of their impressive attack, setting up two tries, scoring one himself and sinking a late field goal. Four goals and 114 running metres capped a successful day in the nation's capital.

Defeating the French - who have a long Rugby League history and are currently ranked sixth globally - was no mean feat for the 18th-ranked Lebanese and Moses' performance was vital. A mid-season move to the Parramatta Eels has the former Tiger in red-hot form and determined to make an impression in the international arena. That was clear for all to see with a stunning chip-and-chase try late in the game, shown in the video above.

The task will not get easier for Moses in coming weeks, with Lebanon set to take on powerhouses England and Australia at the Sydney Football Stadium. The NSW-eligible playmaker, however, has impressed in his first senior representative opportunity.
