Records are made to be broken – and Wentworthville Ron Massey Cup captain Mitchell Stanfield will do just that tonight when he runs onto Ringrose Park for his 335th club appearance.
Stanfield will surpass Adam Capovilla as the Magpies’ most capped player when his side meets Asquith in what should be a cracking clash that sees second meet sixth.
A magpie through and through, Stanfield’s footballing journey began as a five-year-old playing in the Under-6s, where he’d go on to play 200 games for his beloved black and whites, before making the move to France in 2008 playing for St Gaudians.
Stanfield later returned to Ringrose Park and in 2013 made his 300th appearance for the Magpies. But it’s tonight’s feat that will see his name etched into the club’s history books.
