The NSWRL are looking forward to another year of growth in female participation. Following significant growth in recent years, the second tier of our senior women’s competition will potentially host in excess of 15 teams for the 2017 season. Additionally, the age groupings for the junior competitions have changed this year to accommodate the growing participation numbers and provide more balanced competition.

As a result, clubs from all NSWRL Districts now have the opportunity to enter female teams in under-14s, under-16s, under-18s and open women’s competitions. The action will kick off in March with players given the chance to play in a pre-season League Tag competition. Following this, the regular season will commence with both nine-a-side and 13-a-side competitions available.

With team nominations not due until March, clubs who have already expressed an interest in the senior women’s competition which will include those listed below:

  • Five Dock
  • Glenmore Park
  • Kingsgrove
  • Marrickville RSL
  • Maroubra
  • Merrylands
  • Minchinbury
  • Mt Druitt PCYC
  • Penrith Waratahs
  • Redfern All Blacks
  • South Eastern Seagulls
  • St George Dragons

The NSWRL Combined Conference Competition will also host the under-14s, under-16s and under-18s age groups along with stand-alone competitions being held in the Penrith and Parramatta districts. Many of the clubs listed above, along with a number of others, will be fielding teams in the junior competitions.
