The Canterbury Cup NSW competition is rapidly approaching and True Blue and Channel Nine commentator Jamie Soward has cast his eye over all 12 teams for nswrl.com.au to find the winner for 2019.

A Minor Premiership and 13-game unbeaten streak had the Penrith Panthers set for another historic season but a Preliminary Final loss to the Jets ended their hopes of back-to-back premierships.

But Jamie Soward believes that heartbreak will become their biggest motivation in 2019 and predicted the Panthers to finish first and claim their second Canterbury Cup NSW premiership in two years.

The quality of their roster caters down from their NRL Top 30 squad and with Player of the Year Caleb Aekins leading the way there is little doubt that success is not far away for Guy Missio's men.

"My tip to win it all in 2019 is the Penrith Panthers," Soward told NSWRL.com.au.

"They promote from within and they have so much young depth out there that they're going to able to showcase throughout this competition."
