The spoils of the NSW VB Blues’ recent victory, the Holden State of Origin Shield, begins its state-wide tour of New South Wales this weekend when it is presented to the public in Newcastle before the Knights-Roosters NRL match on Friday night.
Proud supporters of the victorious NSW VB Blues, nib, are hosting the Shield at Hunter Stadium, with fans given an opportunity to have a photo taken with it outside the stadium prior to kick-off in the Round 20 clash.
It represents the first of many opportunities for fans of the 2014 Series-winning NSW VB Blues to get up close and personal with the Shield; the NSWRL will send it far and wide across the state in coming months.
On Tuesday, July 29, the Shield travels with coach of the NSW VB Blues, Laurie Daley, to McDonalds Park, Wagga Wagga, for the staging of the Mortimer Shield, before heading to the coach’s home town of Junee for the Riverina Schoolboy Carnival on Saturday, August 2.
The Origin Shield then travels 650 kilometres north to Walgett for the annual Ricky Walford Shield on Wednesday, August 13 and 14 before heading 230 kilometres west to Bourke for the Ronnie Gibbs 7s tournament on Wednesday, August 27.
The NSWRL and the Holden State of Origin-winning VB Blues are set to take the Shield to even more NSW country areas later this year.
