A horror run of injuries for the West Tigers first grade side last year left NSW VB Cup coach Paul Fletcher no option other than to pilfer players from the Ron Massey Cup and under-20s team.

There was a positive though - the blooding of up-and-coming junior talent, as well as seeing a crop of VB Cup players gain experience in the NRL.

“This year we have a lot of young talent progressing through from our NYC team that I’m really excited to be working with,” said Fletcher.

"A lot of our squad have had NRL experience over the last couple of seasons which they will benefit from in VB NSW Cup.”

Last year the Tigers qualified for the top eight but went only as far as Finals Week One, eliminated by the Wyong Roos 26-8. With the likes of Kevin Naiqama and Josh Drinkwater joining the club, coach Fletcher will be setting the bar even higher in 2015.
