Chris Sandow’s fall from Parramatta’s first grade team proved Wentworthville’s gain as the halfback led the Magpies to a 48-6 drubbing over the Warriors.

The out-of-favour Eels no.7 was instrumental in the Magpies’ 42-point victory, setting up four of his side’s eight tries in his return to form.

The pint-size playmaker put a horror week behind him to guide Brett Cook’s men to their third win of the season.

Sandow had the ball on a string, kicking eight from eight with the boot and a 40/20 inside three minutes, which led to Wentworthville’s first four-pointer.

The halfback took to the short side before throwing a long cut-out pass to winger Bureta Faraimo, who crossed in the corner to kick-start the Magpies’ onslaught.

Wentworthville doubled their advantage soon after when Joseph Paulo found Taniela Lasalo with a short deft pass from close range.

Sandow and Faraimo combined once more in almost identical fashion to give their side a commanding 18-point lead just past the quarter-mark.

Five-eighth Ryan Matterson then provided John Falou with a neat face ball for the centre to crash over, and when the no.6 found Josh Aloiai on the stroke of half time, the Magpies went into the break with an unassailable 30-point lead.

It took a little while for the Magpies to regain their first half momentum but eventually the home side found another way through the frail Warriors defence courtesy of hooker Zach Dockar-Clay.

Front-rower Dan Alvaro pushed his side’s lead out to 40 points when he stole the ball in a one-on-one steal before carrying a Warriors defender 15 metres to score under the posts.

It took 72 minutes but the away side finally had something to cheer about when James Bell scored, however it would be the Eels who would claim the final try, with Sandow setting up Dockar-Clay for his second four-pointer to cap off a memorable day in Parramatta.

Wentworthville Magpies 48 (B Faraimo 2, Z Docker-Clay 2, T Lasalo, J Folau, J Aloiai, D Alvaro tries; C Sandow 8 goals) bt NZ Warriors 6 (J Bell try; M Lino goal)
