·      Failed to make the Finals in 2015, have turned it around to make the Grand Final a year later

·      They got a new coach this year, Jason Demetriou

·      Demetriou was the attacking coach of the North Queensland Cowboys in 2015, who were the NRL premiers

·      Have won their last three games

·      Have the best defensive record in the league, conceded 445 points in the regular season, which is just over 20 per game

·      Have not defeated Mounties this year, losing Round 5 (50-16), and Round 11 (22-10). 

·      Won 15 games, lost seven

·      Finished second on the ladder

·      Noteworthy players who have played NRL include Adam Quinlan, Josh McCrone, Drew Hutchison and Taane Milne

·      Defeated Wests Tigers 32-22 in Week One of the finals, had Week Two off, then defeated Newtown 18-10 in Week Three

 

Mounties

·      Won the Minor Premiership

·      Ended the season on 44 competition points, a massive eight clear of 2nd place (Illawarra on 36)

·      Have only lost three games this year

·      Their halfback, Sam Williams, earned the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Player of 2016

·      Defeated Illawarra twice this year in Round 5 (50-16) and Round 11 (22-10)

·      All three Mounties senior grades are in the Grand Final (Intrust Super Premiership NSW, Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield)

·      All three Mounties senior grades won the Minor Premiership (Intrust Super Premiership NSW, Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield)

·      Have the best attack in the league with 609 points in the regular season (just under 28 points per game)

·      Noteworthy players who have played NRL include Shaun Fensom, Jeff Lima, Jarrad Kennedy, Sam Williams, Brenko Lee, Adam Clydsdale and Glen Buttriss

·      Have won 11 games in a row

·      Have not lost since June 18 (Round 15 vs Manly where they lost 22-10)

·      Defeated Newtown 30-12 in Week 1 of the finals, had Week 2 off, then defeated Wests Tigers 24-18 in Week 3
