Aaron Woods has revealed the full extent of his recent hamstring injury - and it looks likely to have an effect on the make-up of the NSW VB Blues.
Woods, a nine-time NSW representative and considered by many a strong chance of selection for the 2017 series, sustained the injury 25 minutes into the Wests Tigers' loss to the Cronulla Sharks at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night. While the severity of the injury was not first known, the 26-year-old tonight revealed on Fox League's NRL360 that he faces the prospect of between four and eight weeks on the sidelines, which could potentially rule him out of the opening two State of Origin encounters.
“I think it’s four to eight weeks,” Woods told NRL 360. “With hamstrings, it’s how you react when you run. I’ll have my first run in a week or two so it’ll be how it reacts to that.”
Having already withdrawn from the Australian Kangaroos side to take on the New Zealand Kiwis on Friday night, the injury could not have come at a worse time for Woods, who had shown signs of his best form a week previously against future club the Bulldogs. The NSWRL wishes Woods all the best in his recovery and hopes to see him playing again as soon as possible.
