Round 16 of the Intrust Super Premiership NSW competition saw five matches played, with arguably each result an 'upset', so if the formlines heading into the respective match-ups were anything to go by.

An unheralded star in making nabbed the competition points for the Panthers in their clash with the Warriors, with club-debutant Mason Cerruto crossing for a late try to shore up Penrith's position in the top four.

It was an outing to remember for the 21-year-old, who took an impressive 18 carries throughout the match, 175 metres to his name to couple with the match-winning try.

A vital two points earned for the Panthers, so too was it important win for the Wests Tigers in their clash with the Newtown Jets at Henson Park.

In a hard-fought affair the Tigers edged the struggling Jets - though not without late drama - to record just their fourth win of the season.

Elsewhere, the Knights looked every bit impressive in their clash with Illawarra at Kogarah on Sunday.

Fullback Nick Meaney was the star of the show, having a hand in four of the side's six tries, as Newcastle crept into the top 8 on the back of the 12-point win.
