The Cronulla Sharks scored a dramatic last-minute try to break the hearts of the Townsville Stingers and claim both the U16s and U18s National Championships at Belmore Sports Ground.

Townsville seemingly won the match when they took a 16-14 lead with five minutes remaining in a see-sawing encounter.

However, Cronulla pulled off the miraculous victory to steal the National Championship double.

In a thrilling contest, the Stingers converted a penalty goal for an 8-4 halftime scoreline and were in front 12-8 with 12 minutes remaining before the Sharks crossed for a 14-12 lead.

In a frantic final 10-minute period Townsville reclaimed the lead but couldn’t hold on as Cronulla celebrated a sensational week of results for their Harold Matthews and SG Ball teams.
