The NSW Women’s side, led by coach and former NRL player Mathew head, will travel to Townsville this afternoon before finalising preparations ahead of their clash with the Maroons on Saturday.

It’s been 16 long years since NSW last tasted victory against their rivals north of the boarder, but Head is adamant his side can finally reclaim Origin supremacy.

An environment in which Head took a little getting used to since taking over the reigns last year, the former Dragons halfback says coaching the women’s elite is a role he has relished.

Buoyed by her performance in her Jillaroos debut earlier this year, NSW centre Mahalia Murphy believes the future of women’s rugby league is certainly heading in the right direction.

With a talent mix of young and experience, there’s one player in particular who can’t wait to step foot onto 1300smiles stadium tomorrow night, and that’s inspirational captain Elianna Walton.
