After 140 games, 26 rounds and three weeks of finals, it all comes down to one premiership decider and it’s the fairy tale story league lovers have fallen in love with.

Grand final glory is on the line and there will be no love lost between fierce local rivals, the Wyong Roos and Newcastle Knights, in the VB NSW Cup Grand Final, this Sunday at Pirtek Stadium.

Wyong are the feel-good story of the season, coming from dead last to grand finalists after entering the VB NSW Cup in 2013, while the Knights season redemption is 80 minutes away with a second-straight grand final appearance.

The Roos and Knights booked their places in the premiership-decider with stirring victories in the preliminary finals at Leichhardt Oval.

For the second time on the weekend, the Canterbury Bulldogs were bounced from the finals by Roosters sides. Roosters feeder club Wyong asserted their premiership dominance with a classy 44-20 win over the gritty Bulldogs. Although the Bulldogs were boosted by the return of Shaun Lane from the NRL, the Roos were too good behind inspirational captain Mitch Williams leading the way.

Many predicted a Mounties and Roos grand final meeting in a one-Vs-two match-up but the Knights spoilt the party, upsetting the minor premiers in a 30-26 nail-biter. Young star Jaelen Feeney continued his blistering finals form with a breathtaking first-half hat trick of tries in a man-of-the-match performance for Newcastle after missing last week’s win due to illness.

It sets up a hugely-anticipated grand final clash between the season’s two top sides in the M1 derby for the VB NSW Cup as top Wyong talents Mitch Williams, Omar Slaimankhel, Tyler Cornish and Yileen Gordon take on the likes of Newcastle’s Clint Newton, Jake Mamo, Jaelen Feeney and Kerrod Holland.

You cannot miss the biggest game of the season in a blockbuster VB NSW Cup Grand Final in what is the only live footy action in Sydney this weekend.
