In front of over 15,000 delighted fans, the NSW Young Achievers scored a resounding 14-12 victory over Papua New Guinea in the national under 16s clash.

In a hard-fought encounter, NSW grinded out a 12-0 halftime lead but the home side stormed back to even the scores 12-all just five minutes into the second half.

However, Papua New Guinea couldn’t record the perfect hometown ending to a sensational match as the Young Achievers kicked ahead 14-12 with a crucial penalty and dug in for the slim win.

The epic crowd was treated to a cracking match with passionate supporters imploring their side on as the Papua New Guinea side threw everything at the resilient visitors.

Best on ground for the Young Achievers side were forwards Jesse Cronin and Luke Gale who worked tirelessly in attack and defence.
