NSW Universities have lost to Queensland in the 35th installment of the Australian Universities Rugby League Interstate Challenge, going down 40-6 in the match at Langlands Stadium.
The game got off to a poor start for NSW, with Queensland skipper Ethan Price getting his side on the board early for a 6-0 lead. That score remained for some time until centre Jamie Anderson extended the lead in the 35th minute, before Price got his second on the stroke of half-time. It sent New South Wales into the sheds trailing 20 points to nil after a dominant performance from the home side.
The second stanza opened in promising fashion for the sky blues with prop Robert Tuliatu crossing early for his side's first try. It would prove to be the only time NSW would cross for points, however, with Queensland going on to the job for the final 40-6 scoreline. The win is Queensland's third consecutive in the annual fixture and 20th since its inception in 1981.
