Day by day, we take an in-depth look at every member of the 2016 Intrust Super Premiership NSW Team Of The Year. Today we look at the right winger: Kato Ottio.

With 29 tries in 23 games, Ottio’s try-scoring feats this season speak for themselves.

The Papua New Guinea volleyball-turned-Rugby League star was the best outside back in the competition prior to an ACL injury in the first qualifying final, which unfortunately ended his season. His 3,386 metres put him at second in this category, largely thanks to his 22 line-breaks and 99 tackle-breaks – the highest and third-highest individual tallies respectively.

Powerful, strong and fast, Ottio is the quintessential modern-day winger; upon his return from injury next year, he will have earned his place in the Kumuls’ squad for next year’s Rugby League World Cup. An NRL debut must also be on the radar for the 22-year-old and he will aim to wear Raiders colours in 2017.
