Superstar Queensland playmaker Johnathan Thurston has been named for the North Queensland Cowboys this weekend – and looks likely to line-up for the Maroons in Origin I.

Thurston’s side meet the Sharks on Thursday night in Sydney and, if the creative playmaker gets on the park and makes it through the match unscathed, would be a certainty for the Queensland side named next week.

Thurston has been named for the Cowboys in jersey #19.

Thurston injured his shoulder in the Kangaroos’ victory against the Kiwis in Canberra a week and a half ago and looks likely to make a remarkable return from an injury that at first appeared to sideline him for as long as six weeks.
