Staff members from the NSW Blues recently attended the 2017 Queensland Indigenous Servicemen and Servicewomen Commemoration Ceremony, held at ANZAC Square in Brisbane’s ANZAC Square during National Reconciliation Week.

In the lead-up to Origin I, NSWRL, through its Blues, paid its respect and gave thanks to those Indigenous persons who have served our country at home and abroad, with assistant team manager Mark Donaldson VC and team assistant Steve Hall present at the ceremony.

“It was an honour for the NSW Rugby League to attend the Commemoration Ceremony in Brisbane’s ANZAC Square during National Reconciliation Week,” Trodden said.

“Indigenous and non-Indigenous people alike have made many great sacrifices for this country over the years and we are incredibly thankful for their service.”

NSW Blues Origin assistant manager Corporal Donaldson VC knows first-hand the sacrifices Servicemen and Servicewomen have made for this country. Donaldson was a member of the Special Air Service Regiment in Afghanistan in 2008 when he exposed himself to enemy fire to protect injured troops and then rescued an interpreter under heavy enemy fire in the Battle of Khaz Oruzgan during Operation Slipper.
