Each week of the NRL season, the NSWRL.com.au staff writers will have their say on the round's best performing New South Welshmen. These are based entirely on the opinions of the writers and do not necessarily reflect the views of the NSWRL or the State of Origin selection process.
1 – Tom Trbojevic
Club: Manly Sea Eagles; Origin appearances: 0; 2017 TOTW selections: 6.
23 total runs, 211 total metres, one line-break, one try-assist, two offloads, three tackle-breaks, two tries.
On a sunny Sunday afternoon at Lottoland the stage was set for a Sea Eagles’ upset victory – delivered thanks to the work of their talented fullback. Trbojevic’s support play in the middle is key to the Sea Eagles’ success and it was strong in Round 22, delivering two tries around the ruck. While an injury scare midway through the second half threatened to end his afternoon early, the custodian played on to seal the win with a pass to Daly Cherry-Evans in the dying stages.
