Knights Stay Undefeated
The Newcastle Knights UNE Harold Matthews and UNE SG Ball squads have recorded four consecutive victories respectively, cementing themselves as genuine competition heavyweights for the 2018 season.
The UNE Harold Matthews side were gusty in their 22-16 win over Cronulla-Sutherland, which included two tries to relentless back-rower Thomas Cant, who helped his side climb to first place on the competition ladder.
That was before the UNE SG Ball side put in a strong showing in their 28-20 win over the Sharks, to sit in second place behind the Sydney Roosters on points difference.
Eagles Know Defence Wins Premierships
The Manly Sea Eagles UNE Harold Matthews squad have held their opposition scoreless for the second time in 2018 after a commanding 40-0 victory over the Central Coast Roosters.
The Sea Eagles boast the best defensive record, having conceded just 26 points in their first four fixtures, which included a shutout in their opening game against the North Sydney Bears.
Fantastic Four For Faith
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are dominating the Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup so far in 2018. After coming off a resounding 98-6 victory over Canberra last week, they continued their impeccable form with a 66-18 win over Newcastle.
Left centre Faith Nathan proved to be handful for the Knights defence, crossing for four tries in the 12-try romp. It included a first-half hat-trick before Nathan rounded off her day with a final try in the closing stages.
First Try For New Elias
Famous surnames are not hard to find in the NSWRL Junior Representative competitions – and in Round 4, it was a recognisable Tiger’s turn to take the spotlight.
The sight of Jayme Elias, nephew of Balmain legend Ben, lining up for the club has been appreciated by long-time fans of the foundation club – and the young winger’s maiden try in the UNE Harold Matthews Cup was a memorable one as well. Purrfect Weekend For Panthers
The Penrith Panthers were the only club able to achieve wins across all three junior reps competitions in Round 4, defeating the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy in the Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup before downing the North Sydney Bears in the UNE Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cups.
All three teams scored exactly 46 points, which included hat-tricks from Lavinia Taiseni (Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup), Donovan Boney (UNE Harold Matthews Cup), Zachary Cini and Hayden Bonanno (both UNE SG Ball Cup). It means that since the Panthers’ shock Round 1 loss in the under-18s girls competition, the club is undefeated in all grades.
