The NSW Rugby League was saddened to learn of the passing of Life Member and former ARL General Manager, Bob Abbott OAM, on Tuesday night (24 April).
Abbott was Cronulla Sharks' first delegate to the NSWRL and played an integral role in establishing and developing the State of Origin concept.
He was heralded by many as a pioneer for his work in the game.
"The NSWRL will be forever thankful for Bob's work to promote and to develop Rugby League in the state of New South Wales," said NSWRL CEO David Trodden.
"Our success today is built upon the hard work of people like Bob, and others who went before him."
The NSWRL extends its condolences to his family and friends.
