The New South Wales Rugby League is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Laurie Moraschi, NSW True Blue #584.

Moraschi represented Country Firsts and New South Wales in 1965, and was the first recipient of the "Country Player of the Year" that same year.

Moraschi played 32 first grade games for Balmain and another 36 first grade games for North Sydney between 1966-72.

"Laurie will always have a special place in the history of Rugby League in our state as a True Blue, but more particularly as the first player to ever win the prestigious Country Rugby League Player of the Year award," NSWRL CEO David Trodden said.

The NSWRL extends its deepest condolences to Laurie's family and friends.
