Mitchell's special tribute in fresh ink

Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues centre Latrell Mitchell has paid a special tribute to his father, Matt, after having a portrait of him tattooed on his right arm.

Mitchell reportedly had the ink done on Wednesday after returning home from the Kangaroos' Test against Tonga at Mt Smart Stadium and later posted the reveal on Instagram.

He described it as "maddest piece" and also paid tribute to his mother in the post.

"Wanted to get something to represent my culture but also the man who's done a lot to get me where I am," Mitchell said.

"Couldn't be anymore grateful."

Mitchell is now on a well-earned break after a standout season which saw him make his debut for the Blues and Kangaroos, and win a premiership with his NRL club Sydney Roosters.
