Farah puts end date on stellar career

Robbie Farah has indicated 2019 will likely be his last in the Telstra Premiership at the club's season launch on Friday morning.

The 35-year-old hooker was on stage with the MC of the function, former Wests Tigers fullback Joel Caine, discussing what players get up to in their downtime.

While giving his company a plug, Farah suggested the season will be his final Telstra Premiership campaign before hanging up his boots.

Farah is in the process of preparing for life after football, launching events company Two4Seven last year, and he announced earlier in the week he will host an exclusive trip to Miami in February 2020.

"I'll try and get over to the Super Bowl next year, once I'm retired which will be good in Miami," Farah said.

"If anyone wants to come, give us a call."

Farah re-signed with the Wests Tigers in August last season after returning to the club following an 18-month stint with South Sydney.

He conceded the uncertainty around his future last season almost caused him to retire before his beloved club came calling.

"I guess last year was a whirlwind year for me, it didn't start off too well playing reserve grade and I did contemplate retiring right there and then," Farah said.

"It's difficult, you get towards the end of your career and it's never the way you want to finish, playing in reserve grade, but then the stars aligned and found myself back at the Tigers.

"I found myself enjoying my football again. I went back with no expectations on this year ahead. I thought I'd enjoy my footy for 10 weeks and if that's the way it's going to end then I'm a content man.

"Not in my wildest dreams did I have think that [playing in 2019] would happen. The club's in a great space at the moment and everyone is heading in the right direction."

Along with Farah, club stalwart Chris Lawrence and Benji Marshall are off contract at season's end.

Marshall, 33, extended his deal for a further season with the Tigers on the same day as Farah's re-signing, while Lawrence, 30, is the youngest of the trio after making his debut in 2006.

The three former representative stars have a combined 705 games experience at the joint venture.

"For myself, Benji and the older guys, we're not just building what we want to this year but trying to leave a lasting legacy so this club can have long-term success," Farah said.

"I'm really excited about the year ahead and what we can achieve as a group."
