The Canterbury Cup NSW competition is rapidly approaching and True Blue and Channel Nine commentator Jamie Soward have cast his eye over all 12 teams for nswrl.com.au to find the winner for 2019.

Jamie Soward has predicted a seventh placed finish for the Mounties in the 2019 Canterbury Cup NSW season and believes their talented young roster is capable of making an impact against the premierhip heavyweights.

Consistency will be the key for Peter Marrapodi's men after they burst out of the blocks in the first half of the 2018 season and their exit in the second week of the finals was considered rather premature.

Although losing Craig Garvey to the Bears, they still boast plenty of exciting young talent through the likes of Brad Abbey, Brendan O'Hagan and Emre Guler.

Their depth may be tested throughout the campaign but Soward expects them to replicate their efforts in 2019.

"I've got them sliding to seventh in 2019, look for their depth to be tested, especially in the outside backs (after) they've had some reshuffling in the NRL squad," Soward told NSWRL.com.au.

"Peter Marrapodi will have his work cut out for his new squad in 2019."
