Soward says: Any time you win those scrappy games like the Knights did you get confidence out of it and especially when they haven't been winning. Rory Kostjayson would be looking for a strong effort and they did that last week against Blacktown Workers. For the Bears, we had them very high placed before the season started and they've been outstanding, especially Brock Lamb and Lachlan Lam. Bears by 10.

Soward says: South Sydney are hard to beat because they defend well but when you look at their 'for and against' they're in the minus because they win those tight games but they know their identity, which is being a defensive team. On the other side, the Bulldogs have had some pretty disappointing games in recent weeks after a mountain of changes which has really affected them. Rabbitohs by 6.

Soward says: Blacktown have had a couple of tight losses to start the year but they upset South Sydney at home which was impressive. They sometimes lack a bit of polish and depth in their squad, but you look at someone like Zach Dockar-Clay whose been in good form along with Lachlan Croker back from injury. But for me, the Dragons have been outstanding without their captain Darren Nicholls and I think they can do it again at home. Dragons by 16.

Soward says: The Jets at Henson are always a better team and I think coach Greg Matterson would be happy with their performance last week, they started on fire and it's good to get your season started with a win over strong opponents. The Panthers, however, were flat and ill-disciplined last week and didn't play like a team that wanted to be there. It will be a tight one so I'm tipping a draw.

Last updated:

Soward says: The Mounties have been outstanding and have shown that they can play with finesse or even a power game and I can't see their form dipping any time soon. It will be a tough trip for the Warriors away from home and would be disappointed with their loss last week against South Sydney. I'm tipping another powerful Mounties performance and got them to win by 20.

Soward says: This match is definitely the game of the round and the fact they play at Bankwest Stadium is very exciting for both sides. Wests were outstanding last week and if David Nofoaluma plays against that will be a huge inclusion and then on the other side, you have Wentworthville who have been very surprising. They out-compete their opponents and play a gritty game. I think it will be a tight game but the Wests to prevail by 4.
