Owls reign supreme in Challenge Cup GF

The Guildford Owls have claimed revenge over the Dubbo CYMS following last years’ thumping in the decider to claim a gritty 42-16 victory in the Challenge Cup Grand Final at Apex Park on Saturday.

It was around this time last year where CYMS put in a relentless attacking performance to claim a 62-18 demolition in the 2018 Grand Final, however, it would prove to have little bearing on yesterday’s result as Guildford prevailed in emphatic style.

Fullback Dom Reardon was at his electrifying best in a feisty game that saw seven players sin-binned, while Daniel Lotu enjoyed an impressive performance with two first-half tries.

Guildford will now return to the Ron Massey Cup with plenty of confidence following their clinical grand final performance – having won just four games and sitting sixth on the competition ladder.

They will look to improve on their sixth-place finish in 2018 while also looking to better their elimination in the first week of the finals.

GUILDFORD OWLS 42 (Daniel Lotu 2, Dylan McKeown, Matt Ryan, Domenic Reardon, Matt Rickard, Matt Woods, Siua Lapuaho tries; Woods 5 goals) defeated DUBBO CYMS 16 (Corey Cox, Viliame Turuva, Hayden Chapman tries; Alex Bonham 2 goals)
