Jake Trbojevic wins 'Best and Fairest' Award for 2019
Manly Warringah Sea Eagles lock Jake Trbojevic has tonight taken out the Club’s top honour for the third time in five years.
Coach Des Hasler presented Trbojevic with the Roy Bull ‘Best and Fairest’ Award for 2019 at a gala Awards Evening held at The Star. Trbojevic also won the prestigious award in 2018 and 2015.
In doing so, he became the second player alongside former Sea Eagles international forward Glenn Stewart to win the Club’s Best and Fairest Award three times. Stewart won the award in 2007, 2008, and 2011.
The Roy Bull ‘Best and Fairest’ Award is named after the Sea Eagles’ first international player. Bull played 22 Tests for Australia and 177 games at prop for Manly.
Trbojevic, the Sea Eagles’ vice-captain, has been superb again in his 23 matches for Manly this season heading into next weekend’s finals. He was also dominant for NSW in helping the Blues win the State of Origin series.
It was not the only award Trbojevic took home after collecting the Gordon Willoughby Medallion for Best Player as voted by the Manly Members.
Manly second-rower Joel Thompson was a popular winner of the NRL Players’ Player Award, claiming it for the second consecutive year after joining the Sea Eagles in 2018.
Reuben Garrick capped off a superb season for the Sea Eagles by taking out the Club’s NRL Ken Arthurson Rookie of the Year Award, the Leading Try Scorer Award, and Point Scorer Award.
Manly Captain and half-back Daly Cherry-Evans won the Steve Menzies Medal for the Play of the Year after kicking the winning field goal in the amazing golden point win over Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park in round 19.
The Doug Daley Clubman of the Year Award was presented to Glenn Moore for his outstanding work in player welfare and wellbeing, and his wonderful support to the late Quentin Pongia and his family.
