Wentworthville win the 2019 Flowers Memorial Pennant

The Wentworthville Magpies have won the 2019 Flowers Memorial Pennant after enjoying an incredible season across all four of NSWRL’s major competitions.

Named after Fred Flowers, the first president of the Political Labor League, the title is awarded to the club with the highest aggregate points at the conclusion of competition rounds.

The Magpies finished the season with 95 points, while South Sydney Rabbitohs were just behind on 90 and Penrith Panthers closely following with 88.

Wentworthville’s Canterbury Cup NSW side attempted a fairy-tale finish to their season, but just came up short after losing the 2019 Grand Final to the Newtown Jets, 20-15, at the fall of extra time this afternoon at Bankwest Stadium.

The same team accrued 33 points, having won 11 games throughout the regular season and finished eighth on the ladder.

Meanwhile, their Ron Massey Cup side won the competitions 2019 premiership for the third year in-a-row while also being the seasons minor premiers with 17 wins to their name.

The club has also recorded 10 wins in the Sydney Shield competition and four in the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.
