Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues forward Dale Finucane recently welcomed his first child into the world but it was the name which managed to raise an eyebrow or two.

Finucane and his wife Maddie named their son Freddy, which also happens to be the nickname of Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler.

The arrival of his first child caps a big season for Finucane, who was selected to make his debut for the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues in Game Two in Perth and took out the award for the Melbourne Storm’s Player of the Year.

There was no shortage of NRL players lining up to congratulate Finucane and Maddie including Storm teammate Felise Kaufusi, NRL players Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Chad Townsend, and former NRL stars Braith Anasta and Trent Hodkinson.

The NSWRL would also like to congratulate Dale and Maddie on their new arrival and whether the name is a coincidence or not, we think Freddy Finucane has a real nice ring to it.
