The NSWRL was saddened to hear of the passing of Mark Harris on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer.

The hard-running centre represented both NSW and Australia (11 games each) between 1970-78 and also made four appearances for NSW City Origin in the annual match against Country Origin.

Harris, 72, was playing in Papua New Guinea for the Koni Tigers in 1970 when he was picked up by the Sydney Roosters.

He went on to play 190 games for the Tricolours and 33 games for the North Sydney Bears. In 1974, he scored the match-winning try in the Grand Final against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to end a 29-year premiership drought for the club.

NSWRL sends our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
