The NSW Rugby League congratulates former NSWRL Chief Executive Geoff Carr as one of 837 Australians who received an Australia Day Award today.

Carr has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2020 Australia Day Honours for service to Rugby League.

NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said: “He has been a magnificent servant of our game and his recognition is thoroughly well deserved and long overdue.”

Carr retired from full-time administration in 2013, ending a 25-year career in sports administration which also included 12 years as CEO of the Australian Rugby League (2000-2011).

The former St George player became CEO of the club and also spent a decade as CEO the NSWRL (2003-13).

Originally from Grafton, Carr played First Grade in the NSWRL Premiership with the St George Dragons from 1970-75, playing in the 1971 Grand Final under master coach Jack Gibson.
