Stats Amazing | Greg Leleisiuao

Greg Leleisiuao may be on the verge of an NRL berth with the Gold Coast Titans in 2020 after a stunning season with the Wentworthville Magpies in the Canterbury Cup NSW.

After earning Team of the Year honours at the end of the 2019 season, Leleisiuao was given a train and trial opportunity with Gold Coast before signing a two-year deal in January.

“It’s great to be back home surrounded by family,” he said.

“It was a risk coming back and trying to get into the (Titans) system, but I’ve really enjoyed the pre-season and now I’ve earned the contract I really want to continue putting in that effort.”

He was almost unstoppable throughout 2019 with Wentworthville, causing plenty of havoc with his powerful carries from his own end and producing some impressive finishing touches to their backline movements.

He was a core part of their incredible run to the Grand Final against the Newtown Jets, and finished the campaign ranked first for total run-metres (4512), first for tackle-breaks (196), third for line-breaks (15), and ninth for tries (12).

One of his best performances came in Round 21 against the Newcastle Knights, where he recorded 283m, 12 tackle-breaks, and one line-breaks, while his effort against the Blacktown Workers in Round 19 was just as impressive with one try, 210m, two line-breaks, and 11 tackle-breaks.

Leleisiao will look to make his first-grade debut when the NRL competition returns on 28 May.
