The NSWRL welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement today of a $27.3 million recovery package to assist the sports sector recover from the COVID-19 crisis, which will see community Rugby League clubs and the state’s governing body receive a direct cash grant.

The Acting Minister for Sport, the Hon. Dr Geoff Lee MP, revealed details of the Community Sport Recovery Package which includes financial support and assistance for grassroots sporting organisations, State Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Organisations for people with disabilities and the Regional Academies of Sport.

 As part of the recovery package, a one-off grant of up to $1,000 will be provided to close to 12,500 local sporting clubs who have registered as Active Kids providers to assist clubs for when sport resumes on 1 July.

Further details regarding eligibility and the process to access this funding will be finalised and announced next week.

It is proposed that funding will be provided to organisations by the end of June.
